Improve Your Workaday Life with a Water Element

From improving air quality to creating a feeling of peace to the area, a fountain adds so much to your life.

You might be surprised to learn of all the advantages of being around an indoor or outdoor garden fountain. People around the world pulled to coastal cities and large bodies of water, most likely influenced by the fact that our bodies have a high water content. twf038-ei__38714.jpg While you could invest in an overpriced beach house or jump in the ocean every day to enjoy the benefits of water, getting a water feature is much easier and less costly!

Improve any outdoor area by adding a gorgeous outdoor garden fountain. However lovely it already is, your space will be even more gorgeous if you add an outdoor water feature from the wide variety available. If you have a screened porch, think about installing one there, or if not, then on the external wall above your patio. If you have a flower bed, consider installing a beautiful tiered type there to add a feeling of peace. You will notice lots of birds visiting your garden if you add a birdbath fountain, as the water stays fresher than still water since it is continuously flowing. Add the finishing touch with the enticing sound of flowing water in your garden.

Suggestions for Your Ideal Spot Indoors or Outdoors

The right feng shui fountain will go a long way towards helping you build a perfect peaceful haven. The best idea is to put in a garden or home waterfall. It is a wonderful complement to the decoration of any property. Set up your outdoor fountain where you can see it from indoors as well.

Plants and flowers are also essential for the most gorgeous water fountains. Plants and flowers that blossom in various seasons make the ideal accompaniment. Pretty stones, statues, or a fireplace are also nice add-ons.

Pond Fountains: The Jewel in Your Very Own Backyard

The immense beautiful ones that are found in front of nice buildings and in public squares are what one tends to think of when visualizing a fountain. But they actually come in a wide array of styles and sizes that are appropriate for smaller spaces. You might even find a place in your own garden area for a charming pond fountain.

By putting in your one of your own, two things can occur. First are the lovely aesthetics and serene nature of fountains. What better way to wind down than to listen to the trickle of water and experience its tranquility. Your spot will be even more gorgeous as well. Additionally, when you have people over, they will want to hang out around your gorgeous fountain, making your get-togethers even more interesting.

The second reason for a water feature is to guarantee a healthy environment for the fish in your pond. Fish must have water that is moving and aerated, and pond fountains provide both. The better-oxygenated and constantly moving water will ensure your fish are alive for a long time. Your flowers will be thank you as well.

The Last Inclusion to the Chatsworth Gardens: "Revelation" Fountain

Angela Conner, the widely known British sculptor, designed “Revelation,” the latest addition to the decorative exterior fountains of Chatsworth. In commemoration of the Queen’s 80th birthday celebration, she was commissioned by the late 11th Duke of Devonshire to make a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth designed of brass and steel in 2004. Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s earliest ponds, had “Revelation” installed in 1999. It takes the shape of four big petals made from metal which open and closes with the water flow, alternatively camouflaging and exposing a golden globe at the sculpture’s center. Standing five meters high and five meters wide, the globe was made from steel and then coated with gold dust. This most recent water fountain is an interesting addition to the Chatsworth Gardens because the petals’ movement is completely powered by water.

Green Garden Water fountains

Have you always wanted to prettify the look of your house?

Well, you can add that special touch and augment the value of your home just by adding a solar water fountain. They offer all the great benefits of electric fountains, such as improving health and general well-being but they also provide tremendous financial perks. Even though there may be a greater cost at the beginning, the long-term investment will make it worthwhile. You will not have to worry about energy shortages since your fountain will not be fueled by electricity.

Your monthly electric bill will most probably increase with running water fountains. Keep in mind that while you may not notice any rewards right away, your home will be worth more down the road.

The issue with using more electricity is not solely about our bills, the effect on the environment is considerable. Solar powered water fountains are a good option to becoming “green”. The use of solar energy to heat or cool your house is much better for our planet.

Less maintenance is a benefit of adding this kind of fountain. As there is no electrical motor that can get clogged, little cleaning is required. And this means more personal time for you!

Water Fountains: An Invitation for Your Cherished Pets and Visiting Birds

Outdoor water features and bird feeders are a natural way to draw in wildlife and pets. All birds need somewhere to drink, bathe and preen. Robins, thrushes, orioles and warblers, though not attracted to bird feeders, are instead drawn to the motion of water produced by fountains. Birds are often drawn to outdoor fountains because of their flowing water rather than the standing water found in bowl-shaped bird baths. Trickling fountains which splash water have a more noticeable sound, this attracting even more birds.

Dogs are attracted to fountains mainly because they provide another source of water. During the hot summer months, dogs and cats will be outside searching for clean water. Because water in fountains is always moving, they do not need much maintenance, whereas the still water of birdbaths collect debris and require more attention.

Keep Your Large Garden Fountains Clean

To ensure that water fountains last a long time, it is important to practice regular maintenance. Leaves, twigs, and bugs often find their way into fountains, so it is essential to keep yours free from such things. Additionally, anywhere light from the sun comes in contact with still water, algae can develop. In order to avoid this, there are some simple ingredients that can be poured into the water, such as vinegar, sea salt, or hydrogen peroxide. There are those who like to use bleach, but that is harmful to any animals that might drink or bathe in the water - so should therefore be avoided.

Every three-four months, garden fountains should undergo a good cleaning.

Prior to cleaning, all the water must be taken out. When you have done this, scrub inside the water reservoir with a mild detergent. If there is detailed artwork, you might need to use a toothbrush for those hard-to-reach areas. Any soap residue that remains on your fountain can harm it, so be sure it is all rinsed off.

Numerous organisms and calcium deposits can get inside the pump, so it is advised to take it apart and clean it completely. You might want to let it soak in vinegar for a few hours to make it much less difficult to scrub. Mineral or rain water, versus tap water, is ideal in order to prevent any build-up of chemicals inside the pump.

One final recommendation for keeping your fountain in top working condition is to check the water level every day and make sure it is full. If the water level falls below the pump’s intake level, it can harm the pump and cause it to burn out - something you don't want to happen!
